Jonas Sports – helping to tackle mental health

Sam Nixon - May 13, 2020

The team at Jonas Sports are aiming to provide additional support to those who are struggling with mental health in this extremely difficult time. Sport can play a huge part in mental wellbeing, and with it on hold, we wanted to do our bit to help.

All the participants from Jonas Sports, and the wider Jonas community will be completing a Half Marathon (13 miles) over two days (30-31st May). Whether that is running or walking, everyone will do their bit. Those brave enough to attempt it in one go will do so!

Those taking part, who will be either running or walking in their local surroundings will be adhering to guidelines on exercise and social distancing.

We have nominated the Mental Health UK (https://mentalhealth-uk.org/) as we were inspired by their hard work across the UK to improve understanding and provide vital care. You can read more about them here.

Jemima Woolgar, Fundraising Manager at Mental Health UK, said:

To everyone at Jonas Sports, thank you so much for choosing to take part in this event and support Mental Health UK.

As a result of the Coronavirus, people are experiencing severe challenges to their mental health and well-being. The impact of social isolation, health worries, and uncertainty are taking their toll on everyone. Some people are experiencing mental health issues for the first time and many others who had previously existing conditions, are having to cope with exacerbated feelings of anxiety, depression, isolation and helplessness. The money you raise is going to support us to help people through this crisis.”

We will be posting updates about the team involved and of course sharing the results.

Details on how to donate can be found at our JustGiving page here
